Importing textures

Gold feature

Importing YTD textures requires Gold Supporter tier or higher.

Use Import texture to open an existing .png or .ytd texture in Photoshop. YTD files are unpacked into Photoshop-friendly texture images.

Exporting YTD files

Gold feature

Exporting YTD files requires Gold Supporter tier or higher.

Use Export YTD when your active Photoshop document is ready. The exported file uses the current document pixels, so save your PSD separately if you want to keep editable layers.

Selecting UV islands

Gold feature

Selecting UV islands requires Gold Supporter tier or higher.

Click any face on the 3D model in the preview to create a Photoshop selection that matches the UV island of that face.

  • Left-click — replace the current selection with the clicked UV island.
  • Ctrl + click — add the clicked UV island to the existing selection.
  • Alt + click — subtract the clicked UV island from the existing selection.

The selection boundary is derived from the UV polygons of the mesh, scaled to fit your active Photoshop document. After the selection is applied you can immediately paint, fill, or mask within the selected area.

Painting on the model

Gold feature

3D paint mode requires Gold Supporter tier or higher.

Switch to the Paint tab to paint directly onto the 3D model. Strokes are applied straight to your Photoshop document (on a dedicated paint layer), so the texture and the preview stay in sync as you work.

  • Left-drag — paint with Photoshop's current foreground colour.
  • Right-drag — orbit the camera (so you can paint from any angle).
  • [ / ] (or Ctrl/⌘/Alt + scroll) — shrink / grow the brush.
  • Alt + click — eyedropper: sample the colour under the cursor.
  • Eraser — switch the brush to erase to reveal the layers underneath.
  • Undo / Redo — step back and forth through your strokes.

Brush size, hardness, and opacity follow your Photoshop brush settings.

Stamping an image

While in paint mode you can also stamp an image onto the texture: pick an image, then click on the model to place it at that spot. Scroll to rotate the stamp before placing. Each placement is a single, undoable action.

Sharing a preview

Gold feature

Sharing a preview requires Gold Supporter tier or higher.

Click Share in the panel to generate a shareable link that captures your current Photoshop texture applied to the loaded 3D model.

  1. grzyPhotoshopTool reads the active Photoshop document pixels.
  2. The current camera angle is saved together with the texture.
  3. A short link is created and automatically copied to your clipboard.

Share the link with anyone — they can open it in a browser and see the model with your texture without needing Photoshop or the plugin installed.

  • Texture does not update: make sure a Photoshop document is open, then use Sync texture again.
  • Model does not load: confirm the selected file is a supported .ydd, .ydr, or .yft.
  • Gold controls are disabled: check Discord and Patreon setup.
  • Preview link looks old: sync the texture again before sharing.

Model support

grzyPhotoshopTool supports GTA V clothing (.ydd), props (.ydr), and vehicles (.yft). For best results, use models with valid UV data and textures that match the model's expected layout.
